PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
I acknowledge, with deep respect, the traditional custodians of this land, the Mumirimina people and pay my respects to Elders past and present, to the Aboriginal people with us today and to the Tasmanian Aboriginal community who continue to care for Country. I stand for a future that profoundly respects and acknowledges Aboriginal perspectives, culture, language and history.
Our School Values
Our Commitment: In partnership with community, we provide a welcoming school of choice that inspires and supports all learners to succeed as connected, creative and curious thinkers.
Welcome
Welcome back to school! As we embark on another exciting academic year, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all parents and families. Your partnership and support are invaluable as we work together to nurture and educate our students.
This year, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment where every child can thrive. I look forward to a year filled with growth, learning and connections.
Our school provides a diverse range of learning opportunities that cater to students' needs from birth to year 12. From our early childhood programs that focus on nurturing curiosity and foundational skills, to our primary years where we encourage exploration and development of key concepts and skills, and finally to our secondary and senior secondary years where we offer a wide range of learning pathways into our VET and TASC subjects. This diversity allows for each student to follow their passion and create successful milestones as they progress closer to their selected career, education or interest.
Staffing
We have a highly dedicated staff that have worked extremely hard to ensure the academic year has got off to a great start. It has been wonderful to see students engaging in work, catching up with friends and trying new pursuits and subjects. We welcome Mia, John, Kim, Scott, Mischa, Melissa, Miranda, Tanya, Mary, Liaan, Jacob, Rohan, Sandy, Emily, Nerrida, Jasmine, Tanya and Cindy.
Meet and Greet Afternoon
Please pop 7 March 2024 into your calendars. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet and see your child’s classrooms and teachers. The afternoon will also provide a time to tour the new buildings, visit the Trade Training Centre and explore the farm and pioneer village. We look forward to seeing you at this event.
Nut Aware School
We are seeking your help to support students in our school with life threatening allergies.
To ensure the safety of all students, we kindly request that parents refrain from packing any snacks or products containing nuts in their child's lunch or snack. Some of our students have severe nut allergies, and a trace of nuts or nut oils can cause serious allergic reactions. By being mindful of this and choosing nut-free alternatives, we can create a safer environment for all students. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
School Carparks
We are cognisant that our main carpark off Gordon St is extremely busy at the beginning and end of each day. To support families, we have duty teachers outside from 8.30 am and after school until 3.15pm which provides families with some flexibility in relation to drop off and pick up times. For our Kindergarten to Year 2 families, we also have a carpark off Walker St.
For the safety and efficiency of drop-off and pick-up procedures, we ask that parents and guardians refrain from parking in the drop-off zone in the school carpark off Gordon St. This area is designated for quick drop-offs and pickups only, and parking here can cause congestion and delays for other parents. Please use the designated parking areas if you need to leave your vehicle.
We are working with Council regarding safe and efficient access for families to and from school in general. A number of options are being discussed to support moving our students safely around the school vicinity. We will keep you informed as discussions progress.

DECYP Volunteers and Staff Training
Did you know that as a DECYP employee, volunteer, or external service provider for the department, you must complete Safeguarding Training?
The compulsory training is designed to help us better safeguard kids in Tasmania.
Throughout the training, you’ll learn what to do if you believe a child or young person is being harmed. You will also learn what your reporting requirements are.
